This strip of land was used for Whippet racing on a Sunday morning.Wether this was legal or not,I do not know, but while I was train spotting, the crowds would appear, gamble ,run the dogs and disappear, within say an hour.

Derelict land by Lumms Lane. This was an environmental nightmare in the 60s, it's largely prettified now- but beware of what lies beneath.

recently visited the site...seem to recollect two tall red painted with curved tops doors on bank lane entrance and a gas lamp fitment above the opening. Never saw the station (too young!!)just the doors. (or am I imagining things?)Passed here many times - Summer evenings train spotting off park hse bridge and up to the heights for fish shop supper.

Exactly. It was occupied by squatters for some years after WWII ended - Salford lost a lot of housing in the Blitz.
