Nottingham canal, somewhere in the flight of 14 locks that took it up to its summit level and on to join the Cromford and Erewash canals at Langley Mill.

Old Coach Road. This ran from opposite Wollaton Hall to Strelley. Some people think this might be the site of the first recorded railway in the world- Huntingdon Beaumont's line recorded in 1604 from coal mines at Strelley to "Wollaton Lane End" wherever that might have been.
