Tram heading into London. There are no overhead wires - from Woolwich on into London, the conduit system was in use; a 'plough' running under a tram and through a slot in the road picked up power from underground conductors.

The lever ground frame was housed in a small building - see photograph in "Charing Cross to Dartford" by Vic Mitchell & Keith Smith, Middleton Publishing, 1990. Taken out of service in the late 1960s. The tunnel under Woolwich Church Street (formally Albion Road) was converted into a pedestrian access route when the Dockyard was being converted to housing after closure.
