Buckley Bros. Motors Ltd. The firm was owned by Jack and George Buckley it may have been started by their father who would tow cars to his workshop with a horse he owned he was a mill wright and engineer. When I started work there in 1960 the small building to the right was known as the stable it was always thought that was were the horse was kept in the early 1900's, when I was there it was used for old spare parts. The company was taken over by the local cotton company John H Brooks Ltd,a larger workshop was built on Egmont Street Mossley and the Manchester Road site became the main showroom for the sale of Leyland Cars the company closed in the 1980's. I worked for Buckley's from 1960 until the company closed, I did leave but returned after a year away.
