| I also remember this, perhaps this old patrol boat had an armoured cupola? | Kizle7 | Friday 30th of September 2022 12:48:05 AM |
| When we were kids in the early 70's we found what looked like a midget submarine conning cupola where this old boat was? | Kizle7 | Tuesday 7th of September 2021 11:59:32 PM |

| Dinky Toys made a model of this - it was huge alongside the other planes. It was only made for a year or so and is now very rare and very valuable. | Coventry kid | Thursday 5th of June 2014 10:01:12 PM |

| Very interesting. That is the 2nd prototype, which was the civilian version,& had faired nose & tail. The 1st proto'was built for turrets n.&t. but to my recollection( an apprentice there 1945-'47)these were metal blanks. The large hanger at that end was No.18 & the a/c on the hard standing there with dorsal fairings are either Seafords (Sunderland IV's) or the civilian version, Solents. | 55thBrat | Saturday 14th of March 2015 08:25:20 PM |
| This is the Dinky Supertoys Short Shetland die cast toy plane - made to 1:192 scale. The civilian version was the one that was made by Dinky - the only other Shetland built and flown was the military version which had a different cockpit - somewhat similar in overall appearance to the Stirling's cockpit - and gun turrets provided in nose and tail. | Coventry kid | Monday 9th of June 2014 08:48:31 PM |
