Sorry not radar. This airfield was used during WW2 for training parachutists. They where lifted up by this tower, two at a time, with a fully opened parachute and then released to float back down again. They would then progress to dropping from a balloon and finally to jumping from an aircraft. Rather them than me, a very brave thing to do. |

| The Lamb family lived in one of these houses - cant remember which - Mother was Annie, daughters Audrey and Beryl. Beryl was best friends with my Mum Dorothy Hancock, who lived a Highfield House, a few yards up Ringway Road - just visible on this picture. |

| My Dad Terry Morris used this field as an allotment in the early 1970s for growing all sorts of veg - no longer exists. Now has airport buildings on it. |

| Corner of Woodhouse Lane and Ringway Road - Fullaloves corner grocery shop stood here. No longer exits, but the old road junction is still there, over grown between airport car parks |

| The Airport Hotel - amazingly still there, now on the old road, looking more or less the same, despite the huge expansion of the airport around it, and the railway line that passes in front of it now. |
