Brown, Muffs - Bradford's up-market department store. Even in the 1950s and 1960s prices were often in guineas; and the store was not open on Saturday afternoons, it opened on Wednesday afternoons (when others were closed, the city centre was quiet, and Rolls Royces could easily be parked directly outside the entrances).

The Mechanics' Institute: with large library, meeting/class rooms and large galleried public hall. Gone; like much else of worth in Bradford.

Swan Arcade. Look closely and you can see the glazed shopping arcade in the light-well of the surround high parts of the building. Arndale House stands on the site. As with the loss of Kirkgate Market in the 1970s, the loss of Swan Arcade in the 1960s stands as testament to Bradford failing to prize its heritage. The start of the long march to the sink town it is today.
