Worms Hill, a steep hill that can take you by surprise as you leave Wilmslow towards Styal! Especially difficult on a bike....!

Stamford Lodge, occupied for 30 years by the astronomer Francis Godlee (1854 - 1928). It was used latterly by a company conducting experiments on animals, much to the disgust of many local residents. It currently lies empty and derelict, but at the time of writing an American company is interested in the site.

The Carrs, Wilmslow. Henry Boddington (Boddington's Brewery) bought Pownall Hall, and the area known as The Carrs was part of that estate. The area is known as The Carrs because it had been quite boggy at one stage.

Carrwood Road and Broad Walk. Looks like the road and some of the houses were under construction at the time this photograph was taken.

This group of buildings used to be the school for the Cottage Homes. It is now used as offices for the prison. The original Victorian windows still exist.

Bollinwood - the Governess' House at the Cottage Homes. Adjoining the house is a beautiful wood-panelled boardroom with a statue of Queen Victoria! All the buildings still stand and are used as part of the prison estate.

43 Altrincham Road, Wilmslow (original house now demolished and two new houses are now built on the site). I used to live here in the 1980s. Whilst I lived here, the owner sold off the garden which lay to the west. The land was bought by a builder, who built two houses on the site. Some time after this photograph was taken, Buckingham Road was built, meaning no. 43 was now on the corner of Altrincham Road and Buckingham Road.
