Construction appears to have been pretty rapid. The bridge was completed on 25 February 1928 and opened on 10 October of that year. The bridge, with main span of 161.8 metres, was designed by Mott Hay & Anderson, a predecessor of Mott MacDonald. Construction was by Dorman Long of Middlesborough |

Clearly the bridge wasn't completed in February 1928 if another 'Britain from Above' image carries the correct date: it shows the road deck still to be built at that time. So the Wikipedia entry for the bridge appears to be incorrect. Still progress from October 1927 to the opening a year later appears to have been pretty rapid |
