Tabard Street still (2012) follows the basic line but straighter but it now ends, with Gt Dover Street, in a huge roundabout connecting with Tower Bridge Road and New and Old Kent Roads |

Merrick Square. This is interesting because the fronts are just brick. Now the basements and ground floors have a creamy white plaster façade. Photograph March 2008, excuse the balloons there was a film being made!

Have just discovered this was done in 1947 to repair damage. I know there had been a lot of damage after the huge bomb in Great Dover Street during the war. |

No idea what this was but what a sight! I wonder if it was bombs or progress that brought it down. |

I saw this building described as a "Tram Stables" on a late 19th century (?) map of the area. |

Now called Harper Road Park, when we came to the Borough in 1964 older residents still called it the Gaol Park - one of the sites for public hangings "in the old days" |

The Borough Tube Station. According to an article in Wikipedia it was opened in 1890 but rebuilt in 1920s so we don't get the wonderful original
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borough_tube_station) |

I am never going to get anything else done! Look at this http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=65534 That must be The Roebuck and it certainly looks like St. George the Martyr in the background |

There is now a mosque here. I'll get a more up-to-date photograph but this will do for starters. The street name is Dickens Square, all houses demolished by council in 1960s I think. |
