Howden (North) station built for the Hull & Selby railway company which became the North Eastern railway. The track through it, which is still open, is the longest straight section in the UK at some 17 miles.

The R100 was designed by Barnes Wallis and didn't crash unlike the R101. Also built on the site was the R38 which unfortunately did break in half over the Humber Estuary off Hull. There is a memorial in the City's Western cemetery to those killed.
