| As can be seen here, the original junction with the Western Avenue and Kensington Road was a roundabout rather than the flyunder that exists today.
At the time that the road was built, most major junctions were roundabouts on the level. This situation pertained, in may cases, until the 1970s. |

| The Northala Fields artificial mounds (aka the Northolt Nipples) would be constructed here. The bulk of the material used coming from the demolition spoil of the old Wembley Stadium.
During WW2 there was an army camp here that was the domestic site for the servicemen and women who worked at the Long Drive Ordnance Depot and its annexe at Northolt Park Racecourse. |

Wembley Stadium wasn't demolished until 2003, are you referring the the exhibition grounds, most of which were demolished (over several decades)? |

No, it was spoil from the old Wembley Stadium. Northala Fields is quite recently constructed (completed in 2008.) On a similar subject, it was once said that the rubble from the old Euston Arch (that was criminally demolished in 1962) was buried in fields nearby, next to the A40 Western Avenue, opposite RAF Northolt. This may be partly true, but the bulk of the rubble has been located to the bed of the River Lea, near Bow, where it was used to alleviate a scouring problem. |
