EAW000642 ENGLAND (1946). A cityscape over Bow Common and Mile End, Poplar, 1946

Howrah House at 83 East India Dock Road which was a convent run by the Faithful Companions of Jesus. It was essentially a Girls School, although boys were admitted occasionally and there is evidence that Alfred Hitchcock spent some time there. The house was previously the residence of shipping magnate, Duncan Dunbar who owned the Dunbar Wharf in Limehouse.

Remains of the Lovat Arms, rebuilt by Truman's in the late 1960s, it was demolished in 2004.

The Conant The Conant 41 Stainsby Road E14. It would lose the upper floor before closing as the Conant Arms in around 2007. Now demolished.

This was the Waterloo Hero (PH). It seems unlabelled so possibly already closed here. 19 Gough Grove.

Rear of The Cotton Arms. It was a Truman’s Brewery pub until 1990, closure came in 2001. Now Demolished.

The Albion (PH). Sat besides the southern end of the closed Burdette Road station, it closed in 1990.

Hippodrome (remains of)

The Stainsby Tavern (PH). This pub has now been demolished.

The Eastern Hotel, a Truman's establishment. Renamed the Londoner in the 1960s, it was demolished in the 1990s road widening scheme.

Pigott Arms, demolished around 1970. This whole area has been redeveloped.

St. Pauls House in Timothy Road (formerly St. Dunstan's Road). Next door was a small Public House all the locals knew as Shackladys, but I think its actual name was The St. Dunstan's Arms
