' Point No 15 on the Cockermouth Town Trail. This bridge, known as the barrel bridge, was built in 1897 across the river Cocker. It was a road bridge from High Sands Lane to Jennings brewery. The bridge was destroyed in the floods of 1938 and was not rebuilt until 1963 when it was replaced by a footbridge. '
