' Cattle truck. Its presence is rather odd, as Newhaven did not seem to have had facilities for handling cattle, let alone loading them onto a ship. The small ship to the left, is probably one of the "screws", Brest, Nantes or Rennes, which were loaded by crane, and not suited to cattle. '
