' In 1936 when this photo was taken these buildings were the 'Reay Gear Works'. The buildings had been built for the Newcastle Shipbuilding Company who started in 1919 but unfortunately went bankrupt in 1921. Berths belonging the Shipyard can be seen at the waters edge. The photo showing Reay Gear Works in the background is from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website '
