' The Newcastle Shipbuilding Co started their shipyard here in 1919 after buying Huntley's old shipyard that was here previously. Then they added 4 extra Berths to Huntley's three giving 1600ft of river frontage. Then just 2 yrs later they went bust. The buildings which were the Platers Sheds were eventually bought by the Reay Gear Works at the end of the 20s. '
