' Kings Hall - Kings is here plural in honour of George V and Edward VII. The hall was built in 1910 and enlarged in 1928. This hall is iconic- temporary home to the Halle Orchestra following the WW2 bombing of the Free Trade Hall, home of many pop concerts (Jimmy Hendrix, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple); Bingo and brass band contests- the last use of the hall was 14th Feb 82 when the last band to play was Glossop Schools Brass Band.
