' This part of walled garden remained private following Mrs.Russell handing Mottisfont Abbey to the National Trust. She had Northend House built, and would spend evenings sitting in this part of the garden. After she died, her old gardener George Buckle and his wife would tend the garden and spend evenings sitting there. Since her death this area has been opened and is now part of the Rose Garden. '
