' Midland Railway / LMR Manchester Central Station. Grade 2*. Built c.1880. Closed to passengers 1969. Opened in 1986 as G-mex, the Greater Manchester Exhibition and Conference Centre, it is now called once more Manchester Central, used for exhibitions and conferences. The "temporary" ticket office was never replaced when the station was open, but a significant part of the forecourt has now been used for a very large glass covered reception area. '
