The Reay Gear Works. They'd taken over the sheds left by the Newcastle Shipbuilding Co who'd went bust after just two years (1919-21). The sheds were auctioned in 1925 & didn't sell. Sometime later Reays bought them. Later it became George Angus Gears & later still RW Transmissions. It finally closed in the mid 70s. A housing Estate now stands on this land & it is called 'Tyne View'. My photo shows the Factory in the background & across Prince Consort Rd.
