' Cheam Park House, built in the early 19th century and later enlarged by London tea merchant Archdale Palmer. It was acquired by the Borough of Sutton & Cheam in the late 30's and used as a 1st aid station and warden's post. Badly damaged by a flying bomb in 1944 the house was subsequently demolished. But the park is still there to be enjoyed by everyone. '
