' This is Stoneleigh Drive as it was called at the time. In 1933 when Worcester Park expanded to the house Cronks developers built "blocks of four" red roofed houses extending from the Cattle Arch towards the newly opened Stoneleigh station. The residents of Stoneleigh Drive at that time wanted name changes to separate them from the newcomers. So Stoneleigh Drive became Lynwood Drive and the continuation was to have been Meadow Road but ended up as Stoneleigh Avenue. '
