The sheds were cleared following closure of the London Dock in 1969, and the jetty itself was demolished in 1980. The photograph is taken looking back from the east, with Tower Bridge and Tower Bridge Hotel indistinct in the distance. The basin is being filled, and the steel frame of the News International printing works can be seen on the right.
