' Canal horse stables. Used to change horses when barges were travelling along the Bridgewater Canal. In the attached picture the entrance to the stables can be seen under the arch. Fodder was stored on the upper floor. A steam tug pulling a very heavily laden barge can be seen travelling eastwards having passed under the Altrincham Bridge which carries the A56 from Chester towards Manchester. In the feint distance is the 1833 Canal Warehouse, now a listed building. '
