' Originally the HQ of Brittol Syndicate Ltd. This company was concerned with engine lubricants and solvent research. It ceased trading in 1934 and I believe that this site housed the Motor Industry Research Association at the time of the photograph. The site went on to become the government Admiralty Oil Laboratory from 1953 until 1968 when it moved to Cobham. '
