Primary Magazine for the Storage of Fumyl
This magazine was rail fed, the impression made by the standard gauge railway track is visible to the left of the building. From the Primary Fumyl Magazine, the railway track wound its way North-West past the end of the Filled Shell Stores and Fumyl Expense Magazine. The magazine is probably of brick construction it has a Belfast truss roof which is devoid of ventilation outlets. The approximate dimensions of the magazine are 13.4m x 11.8m. The magazine is within an earth traverse which has started to erode. This traverse is of the "Receptor type" that has a brick wall supporting the internal vertical face. The earth bank is to the level of the magazine eaves. The purpose of a receptor traverse is to protect the contents of the magazine from an explosion in an adjacent magazine. '
