' 'CHRISTCHURCH BUILDINGS'....KNOWN AS 'GALLOWAYS CORNER' BECAUSE THERE WAS A CHEMIST, CALLED 'GALLOWAYS' ON THE GROUND FLOOR CORNER OF NEW ST AND VICTORIA SQUARE. THESE OFFICE BUILDINGS ALSO INCLUDED A 'J.LYONS COFFEE SHOP/RESTAURANT'. THEY REPLACED THE 'CHRISTCHURCH', WHICH WAS DEMOLISHED IN 1899......THESE IN TURN WERE DEMOLISHED TO MAKE A GRASSED AREA IN FRONT OF THE COUNCIL HOUSE...AND SUBSEQUENTLY BECAME THE LOCATION OF A FOUNTAIN AND CASCADE, REFERRED JOCKINGLY AS 'THE FLOOSY IN THE JACUZZI'....THE WATER FEATURE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF BECAUSE OF WATER LEAKS.
