' The 2nd. St. Augustine's R.C. Church built here, and opened in 1908, after moving from Granby Row due to redevelopment of the area for the large Engineering School and the continuation of Whitworth Street. Destroyed during the December blitz of 1940. The parish then moved over to the Holy Family R.C. Church, in nearby Grosvenor Square. '
