' Pitcairn Road. This site sees the beginning of the construction of police married quarters - 6 in Pitcairn Road and 2 on London Road. They were ready for occupation early in 1951. I moved into No. 18 on 4th March. These houses and the nissen hut prefabs opposite are on the site of a high explosive bomb probably dropped in 1940 (confirmation required.) The nissen huts were demolished later in the 50's and the current housing constructed. '
