' This is know as the Wooden Bridge although it is made of metal. The bridge is on the line of the old tramway which once ran down from Victoria Pit to the canal basin in Newton Wood. The tramway was diverted in 1845 when the railway was built and the footbridge was erected to replace the footpath which ran alongside the old tramway. Information supplied by the Globe Lane Pals '
