Edinburgh's historic electrically-powered street trams were mostly in operation between 1922 and November 1956. A 1948 tramcar from the city, in its red and white livery, has been preserved at the tramway museum at Crich, Derbyshire. A modern tramline has been under consideration since the 1990s. Construction began in 2008 and the line is expected to open somewhat later than planned, in 2014. The line will link the city's airport with Princes Street and Leith, initially |
