Near here the new 2012 tram track passes over the railway on a bridge and then descends to run alongside the railway's nearside to run to Dean Lane, and on to Oldham and Rochdale

The railway in this area is quite complex. This line leads both to the left and right to triangle junctions. Ardwick was to the left- however the connection at Ardwick was removed some time ago, only the viaduct remains and can be seen from trains leaving Manchester Piccadilly.

Actually, to the left is Miles Platting junction, and Manchester Victoria. To the right, the lower line, is the route to Ashbuys and Ardwick via Midland junction to Ardwick junction.
