Above Emerson Mill is a wet field, this is now the location of the Fire Station on Blackpool Road. The other side of the road is another wet area, this used to be (amongst others) a Fyffes Bannanas place and a chemical dumping area. As kids we played here on the rough ground (I don't have 3 arms or anything after playing round all those chemicals!) The area is now Deepdale Retail Park (ToysRUs etc).

The RHS of Blackpool Road before the railway line was a driving range mini golf place and at the roadside was a transport cafe with a pinball machine in it.

In the foreground (to the left of Blackpool Road) opposite the Transport cafe and golf, the white area was Fairways garage, large garage selling cars, petrol, car wash etc.
