In the foreground is Fort House, subsequently named Bleak House to reflect the fact that Charles Dickens stayed and wrote there. Holy Trinity Church, with Tower (now gone)is in the backgound. |

The crenellated building is Bleak House at Broadstairs, now the Charles Dickens Museum and formerly a residence of the author. The white painted cottages immediately to the right are the former Coastguard cottages. |
