Harts hill Iron works, established as Harts Hill Iron Company Ltd in 1846. In 1866 it was purchased by partners Messrs Samuel Hingley and William Robinson Smith following the former owner declaring himself bankrupt. In 1922 the Ironworks became one of the Hingley Group of companies. The Iron works specialised in producing high quality wrought iron i.e. Best Yorkshire, Crown Iron and Grades A & B including rolled angles, flats, rounds, tees and fencing channels. However with falling demand for wrought iron, Harts Hill Ironworks closed in 1970. Info from: http://www.blackcountrybugle.co.uk/Remembering-Harts-Hill-Ironworks/story-20336518-detail/story.html
