The remains of Rosherville pier, the only remaining part of the new town of Rosherville, promoted by Jeremiah Rosher in the 1830s. The scheme was not a success and the pier was leased to an unknown businessman. Rosher also leased the nearby disused chalk pit to George Jones of Islington, who set up the Kent Zoological and Botanical Gardens Company, the very successful Rosherville Gardens.
