The small lake at the bottom edge of the picture was the former sand quarry, then popular with local fishermen. The group of buildings on the opposite side of the road to this were the remnants of military structures housing soldiers who serve the anti aircraft battery, just off the picture in the RH corner. There were more buildings just off the bottom of the picture which were occupied by civilian personnel as temporary housing. |
