 The site of Heathcote way bison wall prefab housing estate (commonly known as the flats) from 1968 to 1983. The small trees there are the very large horse chestnut trees that are still there today. When the flats were there so was the railway embankment, the factory and the large house to the right of it. Part of the new housing estate that’s there now is still called Heathcote way. |

Observe the pale rectangular shape above lower level of
windows. This is/was a dedication stone, with the wording
" Colham Wharf 1796 " ref to an earlier building.
The pictured office area was reworked in the early 1980's
and renamed Harrier House, with reflection to the Falklands
campaign of 1982.
The dedication stone was incorporated into the Harrier House
building, closer to pavement level and remains extant [2014],though the area is otherwise derelict/demolished awaiting development. |
