| 'N' Shed. Berth equipped by Elders and Fyffes with mechanical handling equipment for the rapid discharge of bananas. Sidings ran through and around the shed to allow continuous circulatory movement of vans as they were loaded. Two vessels arrived weekly from Central America and the West Indies in 1929. Bananas represented 5.4 per cent of the port's imports in that year |
