My maternal great grandmother Edith Higgs lived at number 38 North road. I used to visit regularly until she died in March 1984 and the good old age of 90.

I am sorry this is not the Abergavenny/Monmouth Line. It is the Rhymney Branch of the Brecon & Merthyr Railway.

These photos are not Britannia Colliery in Pengam - its Bargoed Colliery.

Bargoed is shown in the foreground, Bargoed railway station in the middle of the picture, and Bargoed Colliery is in the middle of the picture to the right hand side.

Aberbargoed is in the top of the picture and clearly shows Aberbargoed infant and junior school. The train line through Aberbargoed to Pengam runs parallel to the Bargoed line and is almost 3/4 of the way up the picture. Aberbargoed station can also be seen (white house) just along from the Duffryn Hill linking Bargoed and Aberbargoed to the left of the photo.
