Fairfield Yard became the location for the Fairfield Hall, a large concert hall and cultural centre that was rather unusual for suburban London, most such activities requiring a visit to the city centre. |

A trolley bus with its characteristic 4 wheels at the rear and the collection gear on the roof. This location - Station Road - was a busy place for bus stops both trolley and motor. Today it is also stop on the Croydon Tramlink. |

These are not Whitgift Grammar school grounds (which are in South Croydon). They are (or were) the grounds of Whitgift Middle School as it was called then. Name was changed in early 1950s to Trinity School and school relocated to Shirley Park. |

This view of Croydon is rather different today. The playing fields have gone. Wellesley Road and nearby streets boast a large number of high-rise office blocks including those over the Whitgift shopping centre, and the Home Office's Lunar House. Modern trams use George Street, Wellesley Road, .. |
