The famous pub that took a direct hit one night in December 1940 during the blitz WW2, with many people inside it drinking, socialising, booking a room for the night perhaps. You can imagine that you might be tempted to say 'to hell with this war, I'm going to have a few drinks and forget about it all for a few blissful hours !?' |
