On the 19th February 1934 a press release announced,

IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS AT AVONMOUTH

New Mill And Increased Facilities For Handling Cargo

The firm of Messrs R. Silcock and Sons, Ltd., of London and Liverpool informed the press that they have leased land at the West Town end of Avonmouth Dock for the erection of a new mill with electrically driven machinery especially designed and constructed to meet modern milling requirements for the production of feeding stuffs for cattle, poultry and pigs.

Much of the new development is on land formally occupied by the Anglo-American and BP oil companies.

It is anticipated that construction work on the mill and necessary buildings will start at the earliest possible date and the mill will be in active operation before the end of the year.
