This quarry was later worked by ARC and indeed was only a few hundred metres from the company's Head Office, which was nearer the town. I did work in this quarry, together with another 80 or so ARC quarries around Britain. That was from 1986 to 1990, by when ARC had been acquired by Hanson as part of the largest Britsh takevover up to that date (1989). Hanson bought Consolidated Goldfields and ARC was part of CG. |
