| The White Lion pub. This was Stevenage timing point for local bus services and (right up until the 1970s) for coach services from London up to Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland. |

Hotel, please! Still the main bus stop today for Stevenage apart of course from the Bus Station in the 1950s Town Centre. Fitting really as it was the main stopping for for stage coaches in the pre-railway era. (Those with their own carriage went to the Swan posting house at 5 High Street). |
