the castle caught fire on 29th August 1929. After many years of negotiation and seeking planning permission to make the castle habitable again and failing, English Heritage agreed to put a roof on but little else!. the castle is open to the public and available for functions. Well worth a visit.

When living in East Lulworth, I spent many nights listening to the guns firing and my pictures falling off the walls!.

I remember the castle as it looks here but, well worth a visit now as much work has been done and its open to the public. A perfect place to have a wedding!!!!
