1952: Built in 1939, Bradbury Lines Barracks, became famous as being the home of the British Army's elite 22 Regiment, Special Air Service, better known to us as the SAS.
The old camp itself was completely rebuilt in the early 1980's, before being finally abandoned to the developers bulldozers some 20 years later - It's now a housing estate. |

1952: Perched just off the Ross Road - The Redhill Hostel complex, was originally built to house, feed and entertain up to 1000 workers from the local Rotherwas Munitions factory, in later years it became best remembered as the home of The Hillside Ballroom, or to my generation "The Hostel" but is was where, in the 50's 60's and 70's many of the UK's top bands played at the weekly shows! Sadly the music has long since died, it's now a housing estate.
