Suggest it's looking north over Ince Flats, centred around 53d17'23", -2d49'31", between Ellesmere Port and Helsby. Looking at the 1945 aerials on GE, the field boundaries and the visible channel on the mudflats are strikingly similar. |

Also noticed there's a following tug in the pictures too - looks like a paddle tug, uncommon for 1948... |

I have had another look, using the GE aerial rather than maps and have found the field corner just north of Ince |

I shall start the ball rolling on this one by commenting that this series of three photos were taken on the same day and show a tug towing an ocean going ship along a canal. The canal is likely to be the Manchester Ship Canal. I can not read a name of either of the vessels. The three photos in the series are EAW015932 EAW015933 and EAW015934 |
