1860s the post office was run by Arthur Blake son of Arthur Blake who ran the Pier Hotel. Lower Upnor, who also had 3 Stumpy sailing barges...The Admiral Blake - Harriet - The Arthur Blake with drop mast enabling them to go under Rochester bridge.
